About the lesson

I have had a wide educational background which has led to the development of my knowledge, skills and professionalism in teaching and coaching. I have successfully secured a BSc (Hons) degree in Sports, Leisure and Coaching and a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education and Training. To support my academic qualifications I have also attained numerous vocational qualifications including Personal Training and GP Referral Awards which I am currently carrying out. I have embarked upon a consistent continued professional development journey where I have attended numerous workshops, short-courses and nationally recognised courses to further strengthen my knowledge, skills and application. This has successfully fed into the expansion of various roles I have undertaken within the Education and Coaching sectors.

My previous roles working within Sixth Form& FE College’s has provided me with great opportunities to not only teach subjects but also to lead and assess frameworks to meet standards and expectations of myself, the college and national governing body requirements. I have developed and enhanced an extremely transparent understanding of the internal quality assurance processes and systems. Ascertaining my full A1/TAQA, OSCA accreditation and Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance Qualifications demonstrate these aptitudes within multiple roles. In addition, it is my short term aim to take on board a Standards Verifier role. Working within a Work Based Learning/Education & Training Provider has provided me with the opportunities to manage and oversee internal and external partner provisions including operating across A Levels, BTEC’s (QCF & NQF) Level 1-4 in Sport and Sport Science; NVQ’s Level 2-3 in PE Teaching, Activity Leadership and Sports Development, League Football Education Frameworks as well as the International Baccalaureate Career Related Pathways. From a subject perspective, I currently manage numerous Curriculums that cover Business, Psychology, Spanish, Maths, English & Reflective Project which is the makeup of the IBCP. I bring added extras having taught and assessed on CYQ, Active IQ and NCFE Exercise and Fitness Frameworks with 16-19 year olds and mature adults which are similarly embedded within the Warrington Collegiate Sports Department Curriculum.

My passion in education is equally shared throughout my professional coaching experience in the UK and abroad. The experiences gained have enabled me to become much more versatile and adaptable as a lead in Education and as a Coach and moreover, challenged me to raise standards of organisation, communication and professionalism. My theoretical subject knowledge and interpersonal understanding has enabled me to stretch both learners and players on a teaching and coaching basis and I have seen to gain positive respect and acknowledgement from staff I have worked with due to my committed and conscientious approach to leading which has provided great enthusiasm and drive into our team.

I am extremely motivated and use this to inspire and encourage learners and with colleagues I work with. I demand 100% effort of myself within any teaching and learning environment and this is reiterated to the staff I lead. I use my initiative and enthusiasm to affect the departments I work within and through my person centred approach I show care and patience appropriately. Through all positions I have demonstrated individual ability and independence, I understand that the importance of a successful programme and department is also dependent upon how well colleagues and I encompass the sharing of knowledge, creativity and ideas to improve the provision. I continue to enrich my colleagues and learners to become leaders and collaborative thinkers with appreciation and empathy of others. I have exceptional interpersonal skills and I am able to respectfully and professionally approach and manage my attitudes and behaviours within all environments.

Communication skills are a strong attribute of mine and I am confident I demonstrate methods that are suitable to effectively communicate with young individuals as well as with adults in a manner that is clear and concise. This can be supported through coaching various age groups and abilities from U9-U18’s as well as managing a team of staff of varied ages and working with Senior Management. I enthuse individuals and give them positive reinforcement, constructive feedback and guidance in order to continually develop. I am able to differentiate to meet learning styles and abilities and provide engaging feedback to both staff and learners along with designing effective SMARTER goals and individual personal development plans to develop and support the provisions.
