About Zoe
I have been a tutor since my first year of university. I did well in one of my physics classes and my teacher suggested I become a mentor for the class the next semester, and from then on I fell in love with teaching. I continue to tutor after my graduation from UC Berkeley because of how rewarding the job is. I adore my student’s smiles as they proudly tell me about their good grades, and messages of thanks from parents whose children I was able to help pass the class that they were struggling so much in. I’m aware of the stress that being confused in class can cause, and being able to alleviate that makes me feel proud. I also love to tutor because I truly have a passion for math and physics, and being able to pass that on to my students is important to me, because with the guidance I provide, I know that they will be able to appreciate these topics as well.

I am a patient, encouraging tutor who values personal connection with my students. I understand that many Math students need support because they have gaps in their learning from previous classes, so as soon as I notice something like this I make sure to go back and review that topic. I discuss each question with my students and have them explain it back to me in order to confirm their understanding. I always make sure to give positive reinforcement because I know how hard this topic can be for students, and many come to me with their confidence bruised. I have 4 years of experience in both one on one and group lessons from being both self employed and employed as a tutor by my University. I give lessons for elementary school students up to first year college students in both Math and Physics. Sessions are normally an hour, but I also do 30 minute sessions if my student only needs a few things clarified or doesn't have much time.
