About Samantha

Currently a Curriculum Manager of Psychology in a secondary school, I hold an A-Level and a degree in Psychology, whilst also studying for a Master`s qualification in Integrative HypnoPsychotherapy.

Experience:
10+ years of Psychology teaching (as Head of Department)
8 years of tutoring (both online and in-person)
5 years of examining for various exam boards

My degree included a year-long placement working in Early Intervention Psychosis, and the youngest clients I supported were just 18, yet facing some of the toughest challenges that most don't experience throughout their lifetimes. I started volunteering for a children's charity shortly after and both experiences led me to teaching. I have taught psychology ever since, whilst continually leading mental well-being-focused projects in and out of a school setting.

This has led me to where I am today; enjoying teaching and complementing my every-day with private tutoring.

About the lesson

If you are looking for support in understanding content in Psychology, improving exam/assignment technique, or simply need to improve overall confidence in the subject, I can offer excellent guidance.

My approach includes:

- Step-by-step coaching with exam techniques & focus on answering essay questions

What does a typical lesson look like?
Lessons will last around 60-75 minutes, depending on the task at hand; above all, my goal is for you to leave the session having made progress and feeling confident in what we've covered.
Unless something specific is requested (e.g., 16-mark essays in 'Social Influence') then we would cover content and then exam practice, including application questions and analysing a model answer.

Teaching is about making the content engaging, fun and accessible for all, so you can really get to grips with what you are learning. My students favour my relaxed, yet encouraging and supportive teaching style above all, leading to this succession of achievements.
