About Shrika

Hi! I’m a first-year Health Sciences student with a strong academic background and a genuine passion for helping younger students feel confident in what they’re learning. I tutor elementary and middle school students in Math, Science, and English, with a focus on making lessons engaging, understandable, and tailored to each student’s learning style.

My experience goes beyond academics. As a DECA executive, I’ve led workshops and helped students develop skills they initially found intimidating, while my experience as a Flight Sergeant in Air Cadets has strengthened my leadership, communication, patience, and ability to guide younger students. Through volunteering with children, including my work with Kumon and Chinmaya Mission, I’ve learned how differently every child learns and how important encouragement can be.

I’m also a Bharatanatyam dancer, which has taught me discipline, consistency, and the value of learning something step-by-step: the same approach I bring into tutoring. Whether a student is struggling with a math concept, preparing for a test, or simply needs someone to make school feel less overwhelming, I want my sessions to be a space where they can ask questions, make mistakes, and grow.

My goal isn’t just to help students get the right answer — it’s to help them understand why the answer is right and leave each session feeling a little more capable and confident than when they started.

About the lesson

I want my lessons to feel engaging, supportive, and tailored to each student rather than like another classroom. I begin by identifying what the student already understands and where they need support, then break difficult concepts into simple, manageable steps. Depending on the subject, I use practice questions, examples, visuals, and interactive activities to reinforce learning.

Each lesson is personalized to the student’s goals, whether they need help with homework, preparing for a test, reviewing challenging topics, or building confidence. I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind their answers rather than simply memorizing them. My lessons are designed for elementary and middle school students in Math, Science, and English, with the pace and teaching style adapted to each student.
