Hello! I'm currently a student cellist in St. Louis. I have been playing the Cello for 10+ years and taking private lessons at Webster Community Music School for the past 4 years.

About Sebastian
I am currently twenty years old and am a prospective instrumentalist and artist. I have completed one full year of studying for a Bachelor of Instrumental Performance on Cello at Millikin University. I am currently in St. Louis for this next year while I work up to auditioning for various top schools on the East Coast. This November, I auditioned for one of these schools, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and my audition was well received, but I unfortunately did not make it in this year due to very limited openings and very high competition. So, I will be auditioning for that school again this next year; additionally, I will be auditioning for the New England Conservatory and Julliard this time around. This summer, I plan on auditioning for the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra for their 2024-2025 season. Part of my lessons will be introducing your children to this brutal nature of the world, which is the fact that life is unbelievably competitive. You have to learn to deal with it, get up every time, and then come back 10x better. I want your children to be prepared when they inevitably face these difficulties in life. No one is going to hold their hand and pity them, especially in the music world. I want them to not give up when they are shot down, but instead push forward and succeed. I think learning this from my teacher has been one of the most valuable things he has taught me.

Learning any instrument, especially the cello is a considerably difficult challenge. It will rarely result in instant satisfaction and will be a lifelong endeavor for prospective musicians. I aim to give students the instruction of a very knowledgeable cellist without the exorbitant cost of learning from someone who would have a doctorate. My teaching will dedicate a certain part of the lesson to technique practice, including learning of the scales, the practice of etudes, and overall enrichment of one's understanding of technique. Without a proper foundation, the building you are trying to build will collapse. The goal when teaching someone anything is to teach them to teach themselves. In light of this, learning an instrument is so much more than learning the foundation. Learning an instrument is like any challenging thing in life, you have to discover 90% of the Iceberg that is not seen to truly grow and appreciate it. I want to teach people how to see music spiritually and philosophically. I want my students to find the soul of the music. Once you understand the spirit of a piece, you can then make people weep when they hear you play. This growth on the instrument brings along with it a development of one's maturity and the growth of emotional intelligence.
