About Jenna
Hi New Learners! A little about me... I’ve loved reading for as long as I can remember, and that love is what inspired me to become a teacher. There’s something truly special about helping young learners discover the joy of books and the power of their own words. I’m passionate about creating a warm, encouraging space where children feel safe to learn, make mistakes, and grow. With experience working with early elementary students, I tailor each lesson to fit your unique needs and learning style. My goal is to build not just strong literacy skills, but confidence and a lifelong love of learning and maybe we can converse about our favorite books! (Hint: mine is a Canadian classic).

Teaching Methodology & Techniques: I use a student-centered approach that blends phonics, guided reading, and interactive activities to build foundational literacy skills. I prioritize making lessons fun, engaging, and tailored to each child's learning style and pace. Typical Lesson Plan: A typical session begins with a short debrief about what we are focusing on this week, followed by a reading or writing activity targeting specific goals (e.g., phonological sounds). We will finish with a quick game or review to reinforce learning. What Sets Me Apart: My current studies are a major advantage as I have first-hand experience in classrooms that in turn help me to bring patience, creativity, and a deeper understanding of how young learners develop into my tutoring. I focus on building confidence as well as skills, using encouragement and positive reinforcement throughout. Who the Lessons Are For: My lessons are ideal for elementary students (Grades K–6) who are developing their language skills, including those who need extra support or a confidence boost.
