About Sesadhee

Growing up, I found genuine joy not only in learning but also in sharing what I had learned with others. I frequently helped classmates who needed support, breaking down complex concepts in a way that was clear and relatable. This experience taught me that teaching is one of the most powerful forms of active recall, allowing me to strengthen my own understanding while helping others succeed. From a young age, I was already developing communication and interpersonal skills that are vital in any learning environment. I would often practice by teaching my family members, soft toys, or even imaginary students—an approach that may seem simple but greatly enhanced my ability to explain information with clarity and confidence. This habit became more than just a study technique; it shaped how I engage with knowledge and with people. These early experiences helped me realize that I thrive in roles where active interaction, empathy, and clear communication are central. This naturally guided me toward pursuing a degree in nursing, a profession where knowledge-sharing, trust-building, and professional integrity are essential. As a tutor, I bring these qualities into every session. I aim to inspire confidence in my students, not only by helping them master content but also by supporting their belief in their own abilities. I strive to establish trust and legitimacy by being well-prepared, approachable, and clear in my explanations. My professional background in healthcare further supports a high standard of responsibility, ethics, and respect, which I carry into all aspects of teaching. Students can feel reassured knowing they are learning from someone who is not only passionate and experienced, but also deeply committed to their growth and success. For my future plans, I am planning to pursue post-grad medicine in the aim of becoming a doctor.

About the lesson

I would prefer to do physical classes so that I can clearly identify each student’s current level of understanding, learning goals, and preferred learning style. Based on the student's level of understanding/potential, I will tailor a unique study plan around the student's study goals, that would make learning easier for them. I will make sure that they are fully prepared for their exams by introducing all the tricks that I applied during my schooling journey. My techniques mainly include: 1) Explaining all the concepts step by step with the help of a whiteboard and other visual aids. 2) Providing the students with a very detailed note(s) including all the necessary points and detailed diagrams. 3) Providing the students with practice questions at the end of each class (active recall). 4) Monitoring the student's progress through quizzes (active recall). 5) Teaching them ways of remembering the study material by incorporating factors of day-to-day life. My ideal duration for a class would be 1-2 hours, depending on the student's capacity to concentrate and learn. I am a nursing student at La Trobe University as mentioned before. I have 3+ years of experience in teaching (especially biology and general sciences) back in my home country, Sri Lanka. I have 4A*s and 3 As for my Edexcel Science IGCSEs. I am looking to tutor students for grades 01 to 05 mainly.
