About Jade
Currently have a master's in educational leadership as well as a dual bachelor's degree in special/general education. However, I have been a special education teacher for over 10 years. I have worked with many disabilities but specialize in Autism, ADHD, and Behavioral. I am a firm believer that teaching and learning go hand in hand. I enjoy learning from my students as much as I do learning about my students to best be able to help them succeed in everything. No person is the same and finding what strategy is best for one, may not be for another and that is ok, as long as we don't give up and just keep trying. The example I give most of my students when they tell me they can't do something or they don't understand, is that I do not understand or play video games at all (which is the truth) I just do not understand or I can't do it. So should I just give it up? or should I try again on that game? No! Why is that? because the more you practice the better you get, the same goes for school.

Typical lessons are designed with the individual student in mind. Each student learns in a unique way and discovering the ways that work best (such as repetition, hands on, or teacher prompted) is a goal to any student success.
I tend to work with students using a basic lesson plan and continually observing how they are responding to the lesson/material. If the student is struggling, we change it up and use "tips and tricks" to help them grasp concepts that they are struggling with understanding. For example we may start out a lesson in slope using the slope formula, but if the student is struggling with the concept we can break it down to two points and find rise over run instead. Still getting the same answer just in a different way.
