About Rachel

Hi!

My name is Rachel and I'm a high school student currently at Barker College looking for a primary school student to teach and help with homework/ test prep, especially in English.

I've always enjoyed reading, writing and literacy and performed well in English throughout my primary and high school years and would love to help out with any extra work you have, assist in building important English skills before high school and motivate you to constantly learn and improve.

There's many opportunities that showcase English skills in primary school such as NAPLAN, public speaking competitions, debating, in-class creative writing and selective tests which you can showcase your improvement with my help and previous experience.

Of course, I want to get to know you and you're interests and hobbies as well. What are you good at in English? What would you like to learn? Is there anything specific that you find difficult? I'll try my best to listen to any of your concerns and confusions and show you as many spelling tricks, writing structures and reading recommendations as I know.

About the lesson

Learning should be an engaging and rewarding experience and by tutoring, a student can reap the benefits of self-improvement in a particular subject/ skill.

My personal qualifications and experience involve being awarded the grade English award in primary, public speaking awards and A's in high school English; on top of a genuine love for reading and writing. Previous volunteering experience with kids scouts centres spent assisting primary school kids to get along, learn and participate in the sessions has taught me valuable soft skills that can be transferred to tutoring.

I'd hope to bring a level of mutual honesty to our lessons- share my own experiences and learnings- as well as provide undivided attention and patience.

Lesson times are up to you! Preferably 1 - 2 hours so the time is used efficiently but still covers everything needed. I can teach primary school students specifically year 3 - 6.
