About Daniel

Hi! My name is Daniel. I am a high school student in Ontario, Canada and I have been learning programming in my free time over the course of several years now. I have the most experience in game development with tools such as Unity, Unreal Engine and Godot. However, I also have a fair bit of experience in web/app development with programming languages like html, css and JavaScript, and more general-use languages such as Python. I am mostly self taught and do some small side projects here and there for fun. I am super excited to share my knowledge and maybe even learn a thing or two myself. Either way, I absolutely love programming and I would do it for free.

About the lesson

I believe the best method of teaching is looking from the eyes of the student and personalizing lessons. Trying to follow along with them and ensuring they understand as much as they can will build a strong foundation which will make learning a lot easier and more enjoyable.

In my lessons, I will start by asking if there are any questions from previous lessons or generally about the subject and answer them accordingly in ways they can understand. Then I will briefly bring up last lesson’s material and potential tasks to refresh the student and transition into today’s material after any possible questions they may have. After the lesson’s material is covered, I will ask if they have any questions. If I believe they have a solid understanding of the material and the student has enough free time, I will assign an assignment regarding the lesson’s material that should be completed by next lesson, in order to burn the material into their brain with practice. If they either do not understand or do not have enough time in between sessions, I might give them some short practice or a mini-quiz about the material and maybe do the same at the start of the next session. Afterwards, I will do one last check for questions before ending the lesson.

I think what sets me apart as a tutor is that I know what it feels like to learn to code and I can explain it in a way that is easy to follow and adjust according to the student.

These lessons are generally for people who want to start programming or people who are in middle school or high school and need some help understanding material.
