Perfect! Deb was wonderful at engaging with my daughter, building her understanding of design process for A levels. She really fostered both my daughter's creativity (encouraging gallery visits and photography) and technical skills (from collage lino printing to using graphics software.
She is hugely enthusiast and encouraging. Deb made a huge difference.- It was a pleasure to teach Rosa's daughter who's work at A Level covers two disciplines in Textiles and Graphics. She displays good skills in responding to first hand resources, and the work of others. Her focus now would be to make creative links to develop these into explorative ideas and make appropriate contextual comments.Deborah's response :
Perfect! Deborah has been a great find for my primary school age daughter. Although Deborah seems to work with older students, she can adapt her approach perfectly for a younger artist. My daughter is very self-driven but wanted professional guidance to level up her skills, and Deborah has provided that. She is calm, kind, and patient, and my daughter warmed to her instantly. After just a couple of sessions, Deborah already has a project roadmap to build her technical skillset. We are off to a great start and look forward to continuing to work with her!
- Grace is very creative and able young student. She has many ideas and works with different materials to produce some ambitious artistic outcomes. She is a quick learner and clearly enjoys many creative processes. The next step would be to help her develop her drawing, painting and printing skills, as well as her observational skills and command of the formal elements.Deborah's response :
Perfect! Great start
- Ella is a very able student, her drawing and observational skills are advanced for her age. She clearly loves to draw, particularly animals, which she has studies of in pencil, pen and watercolour.Deborah's response :
The next steps for Ella would be to develop these skills on a larger not ambitious scale and link and learn from the work of others, historically and contemporary.
We have discussed the theme of 'Connections' to explore her skills further and connect to the GCSE Art and Design syllabus in order for her to gain creditation here and a portfolio of work to submit for a future art course.
Perfect! Great initial chat about GCSE Fine Art with Deborah, she is warm, engaging, encouraging and organised. She deeply understands the curriculum and can give focused help on areas of coursework that need improvement. My daughter opened up to her immediately and was proud to share her work. Deborah was able to help her brainstorm ideas for her final project. Thank you again for your help!
- Piera is a very responsive and enthusiastic student, who is very interested in exploring ideas and media in her sketchbook.Deborah's response :
Perfect! Deborah is a fantastic teacher, kind, patient and brings out the very best in her student. My son has flourished under Deborah’s tuition, his confidence is growing and he thoroughly enjoys his sessions - thank you Deborah you really are a superstar ️
- Sam is a very able student, who has shown how he can develop and sustain an idea. He is enthusiastic and receptive to advice and is developing his imagery and painting skills. He now needs to review and refine these skills further to match the creative outcomes he wants to achieve.Deborah's response :
It was a pleasure to tutor Sam today.
Perfect! Deborah is a wonderful, empathetic, insightful and intuitive coach who really takes time to listen, understand and accommodate each individual student’s goals, interests and priorities.
- It was a pleasure to meet Amy and discuss her plans and new direction for the future. Amy is highly driven and motivated to turn these aspirations into a reality. Her calligraphy and printed work showed a eye keen for detail and graphic design.Deborah's response :
Her next steps would be to build and develop upon her skills with observational drawings, printmaking techniques, and different media to explore a range of processes and possibilities.
Perfect! Deborah has been a fantastic support for my daughter in the lead-up to her Art exam. Her deep understanding of the exam board requirements and clear, thoughtful feedback really helped my daughter focus her project and build confidence. We’re very grateful!
- Irem strengths are in her ability to respond to the theme creatively using photographic and digital resources to do so.Deborah's response :
Her next steps to improve would be to underpin her thinking with indepth contextual links, ref A01 and to continue to use other techniques and materials to explore A02 further.
Perfect! Deborah is a very skilled, knowledgeable and kind tutor. My daughter (13 y.o.) gained confidence and motivation from the very first lesson.
- Sasha was very receptive to advice and was willing to explore observational drawing using tonal drawing techniques. Her skills were good and she showed a willingness to learn.Deborah's response :
Perfect! Really informative
- Hope you found the support needed closer to home for your daughter.Deborah's response :

She is hugely enthusiastic and encouraging. Deb made a huge difference.Deborah is a fantastic tutor. She is reliable, dedicated and goes above and beyond in helping her students. She tutored our son in his preparation for his art GCSE, helping develop ideas for his portfolio, exploring different media and allowing our son to gain confidence in the techniques needed to achieve the highest grades. Whilst we do not yet have his GCSE result I can be confident in saying that Deborah's guidance has been crucial in his accessing top marks.
There are two words to describe Deborah and her lessons and those are "absolutely brilliant". We trusted Deborah with our daughter's Art GCSE exam preparation, and what she achieved in a very short time is truly outstanding. Deborah has injected spirit and technique into our daughter's work. The high recommendation is an understatement, Deborah is an outstanding artist and tutor. Thank you for guiding our daughter to achieve her best work ever.
She is very supportive and gives excellent guidance to my daughter. I can highly recommend her and we are grateful for her expert help!
Deborah has helped me so much with my art A level. Since we started lessons, her feedback has made me feel more confident in my work, and we work on both planning for my sketchbook and larger pieces. She is very supportive and friendly and she always responds quickly if I contact her with questions or ideas. We also make sure to work in a COVID-19 secure way, with both of us wearing masks and keeping social distancing as much as possible.
Deborah has been an amazing tutor to me, she is a good teacher as she is very skilled and is always positive and made the lessons enjoyable. Deborah is very encouraging and she helped me develop multiple skills and techniques, motivated me, boosted my confidence and improved my grade in art.
As an inspiration to me Deborah was a fantastic tutor whom always supported and challenged me to comprehend such complex and intricate ideas in such an engaging way. A true voice of wisdom it must be noted.
I would definitely recommend Deborah as a trustworthy tutor! She is very supportive and helped me improve my artwork skills giving great feedback on what to improve and how to work on it. Without her help I probably wouldn’t have recieved a grade 7 (A) !! I highly recommend!
Deborah is knowledgeable, inspirational and passionate about Art. She is patient and anyone would be very fortunate to have her as a tutor. I have been lucky enough to see the exceptional work she motivates students to produce.I have known her for 13 years and learnt lots from her.
