About Michelle
I have been an educator for over 20 years and love working with children. I am a very positive and upbeat teacher who loves to make up silly songs to help students remember concepts and lessons we are working on. I love hands on and interactive learning. I do my best to make my lessons fun, meaningful and engaging. I create educational games to learn specific skills, not just do work sheets or read and answer questions.
I take my job seriously and know what I want the end result to be, which is building a positive relationships, building student confidence, and celebrating the growth and progress working together has made.

My teaching approach begins with knowing the objective of the lesson and sharing with students what they will be doing and why the lesson is important.
I usually start with an interactive activity to get students excited and engaged on the topic. For example, a KWL chart, online game such as Blookit or Kahoot. Then I will move on with a whole group lesson with the main objectives and concepts being taught. Once the whole group lesson is complete, I will break students into groups with a specific activity to complete strengthening their knowledge of the concept I've introduced. During small group work, I pull groups of students and work directly with them and continue to rotate between each group answering questions, reinforcing the concept and clarifying any misunderstandings. Once group work is completed, I will give each student an exit ticket with a specific question that relates to the concept of the day. The exit tickets will inform me of what my next instructional steps need to be based on the answers students provide.
My lessons are interactive and engaging.
This type of lesson would be for a classroom 20-25 students.
As a tutor, my teaching style is the same, positive, engaging, and encouraging. I will look at the students Body of Evidence to see the areas they are struggling. I would begin with a preassessment to give me base line data. I would then create meaningful and engaging lessons to build their skills and knowledge. I would be informally assessing throughout and monitor the growth the student is making. I would consistently praise and celebrate the progress the student is making and will stive to build their confidence.
