About Amir Ali

I am a PhD-qualified Biological Scientist with over 12 years of teaching experience at both university and secondary school levels. Having taught GCSE, A-Level, and degree-level Biology, I understand how to explain complex topics clearly, break them down into manageable steps, and support students to achieve their academic goals. My approach is structured, engaging, and tailored to each learner’s needs. I use proven methods such as retrieval practice, exam-style questioning, and visual learning tools to strengthen understanding and boost long-term memory. Every lesson starts with a short review of prior knowledge, builds on this with carefully scaffolded explanations, and ends with consolidation activities to ensure lasting progress. A typical session is 60 minutes, though longer lessons can be arranged for exam preparation or in-depth revision. Alongside teaching, I provide targeted feedback, personalised study strategies, and exam tips that help students not only improve grades but also gain confidence in their learning. With my background as a PhD researcher, Assistant Professor in Stem Cells, and current UK school teacher (PGCE with QTS), I combine academic expertise with real classroom experience. This ensures lessons are both academically rigorous and accessible to learners of all abilities. I specialise in supporting GCSE and A-Level Biology students aged 14–18, particularly those preparing for important exams or aspiring to progress into medicine, dentistry, or biomedical sciences. My aim is simple: to help every student I teach feel confident, motivated, and capable of success.
