About Shola

- What kind of experience do you have? I have more than twenty years of teaching experience. - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? Yes, I am a DBS and PVG certified teacher - Where and with whom did you train? I graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London, in 2008, under a tutelage of Professor Hamish Milne, prior my move to London I graduated with Honours and Master’s Degree in Piano and Research from the Russian Gnessins Academy of Music in Moscow, where I studied with Professor Grigory Gordon. - Do you belong to any professional organisations? Royal Academy of Music, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, University of St Andrews - Tell me about your current students To me, to make lesson a successful experience, the student and the teacher must work together. The teacher's goal is to develop the student's full musical potential. This is done by personalised repertoire, progressive music, understanding and technique, music theory and preparation for the ABRSM exams if required.

About Me

I am a highly qualified and experienced piano and theory teacher based in Stockbridge, Edinburgh, offering lessons tailored to all ages and abilities. I hold a Master of Music (MMus), Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip), DipRAM, and LRAM—all with Distinction in Piano Performance. I am currently undertaking a Doctorate of Performing Arts (DPerf) at the University of St Andrews in collaboration with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where I specialise in interdisciplinary performance.

My approach is warm, encouraging, and structured, helping students build solid technique, musicality, and confidence—whether you're preparing for ABRSM exams, auditions, competitions, or simply learning for enjoyment.

Holistic musicianship with creative approaches for children and adults

Perfect! Shola is a brilliant tutor, she has been giving lessons to our 5 year old and is so kind and patient, with an incredibly warm personality. She is extremely knowledgeable and is clearly a natural teacher. Our son always enjoys his lessons, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her!
