About Iva
History has always felt real and exciting to me. Being surrounded by ancient towns, castles, and different cultures sparked my love for learning about the past and seeing how it connects to the world today. I also love traveling and exploring places that feel straight out of Game of Thrones, especially since parts of it were filmed in Croatia!
That’s why my lesson plans focus on making history interactive, fun, and easy to connect with. I use movies, books, comics, maps, and pop culture references to bring lessons to life instead of just memorizing dates from a textbook. My goal is to help students actually enjoy learning, build confidence in school, and become stronger writers and critical thinkers. And I promise that by the time we’re done working together, you’ll be writing strong 5-paragraph essays not just for history, but for almost any subject.

My lesson plans are designed to make history feel alive and interactive instead of boring and repetitive. I use movies, books, comics, maps, and pop culture references to help students connect with historical events in a way that actually sticks. Whether we’re comparing ancient wars to scenes from Game of Thrones, analyzing historical themes in films, or using graphic novels and visual storytelling, I try to make every lesson engaging and easy to understand. I will even make funny noises if it helps.
Because I was born in Croatia and love traveling, I also bring real-world cultural perspectives into lessons to help students see history beyond just a textbook. My classes focus on discussion, critical thinking, creativity, and confidence-building, especially in writing. By the time we finish working together, students won’t just know history better, they’ll also feel more confident writing strong 5-paragraph essays and expressing their ideas clearly in any subject.
