About Inês
I'm a History graduate from King's College London with a lifelong, bilingual education in English. Originally from Portugal, I attended an American international school throughout my schooling, so English has been the language of my entire education.
Being Portuguese gives me a slightly different perspective from many English tutors. I understand what it takes to master English to the highest level, including the challenges faced by students who are balancing more than one language or coming to the subject from an international background.
I scored a 7 in IB English Literature HL, and my history degree has sharpened the analytical and essay-writing skills that sit at the heart of English exams.
I'm patient, organised, and genuinely enjoy helping students find their confidence with reading and writing. My goal is to make the subject feel approachable, to break down what can seem intimidating into clear, manageable steps.

I start by understanding where a student is - set texts, and the specific things they find difficult, whether that's structuring essays, analysing language, or managing timing. From there I work through past paper questions together, model how to plan and write strong answers, and give detailed feedback on their writing.
I focus a lot on essay structure, embedding evidence, and developing a clear line of argument, since these are the skills that lift a grade.
As a history graduate, I'm especially comfortable helping students sharpen analytical and persuasive writing.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, which gives enough time to cover a concept, practise it, and review work without losing focus. I'm happy to do longer 90-minute sessions closer to exams or for coursework support.
I teach English at GCSE, A Level, and IB level, for students roughly aged 13–18. Lessons are online, so I can work with students anywhere, and I tailor each session to the individual's exam board, set texts, and goals.
