Learn more about Itzayanna

  • 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I speak Spanish fluently because it is my native language and an important part of my identity and culture. My passion for languages and teaching grew when I realized how powerful communication can be in connecting people from different backgrounds.

As an international student, I studied Business Administration with a minor in International Business while playing college soccer. Being surrounded by people from all over the world and pursuing my education in another language gave me firsthand experience with the challenges and rewards of learning, adapting, and communicating across different cultures.
  • 2) Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

One historical and cultural figure I find particularly representative of the Spanish-speaking world, especially Mexican culture, is the legend of Huitzilopochtli, the Aztec god of the sun and war. I think this figure represents the way our ancestors understood life, struggle, strength, and purpose. Their worldview has been passed down through generations and, in many ways, continues to influence how we see life and face challenges today. I find it fascinating how ancient traditions and beliefs can still be reflected in our culture and in the way we live day by day.
  • 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

One thing I love about Spanish is how expressive and emotional it can be. I particularly like the phrase “poco a poco”, which means “little by little.” It is simple but meaningful because language learning and life in general is a process. You don't have to know everything immediately; consistency makes a big difference.
  • 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Speaking Spanish matters to me because it connects me to my roots, my culture, my family, and millions of people around the world. It is also a beautiful tool for communication. I love helping students discover that learning Spanish is not only about grammar it is about understanding people, cultures, humor, traditions, and different ways of seeing the world.
  • 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

One of the biggest challenges of learning Spanish is that there are many verb conjugations, regional expressions, and grammatical rules. However, the best way to learn is through consistent exposure and practice. Conversations, music, movies, reading, writing, and real-life situations can make the learning process much more natural and enjoyable.
  • 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

One of the most valuable lessons I have learned through languages is that making mistakes is necessary for progress. Building students’ self-confidence is essential so they can feel equipped with the tools they need to put themselves out there and communicate without fear.

As an international student, I learned by constantly putting myself out there even when I made mistakes. I still remember trying to translate “los dedos de mi pie” literally and saying “the fingers of my foot” when, in English, they are called “toes”. We had a good laugh about it, but that moment helped me remember the correct word and I never made the same mistake again.

The students who improve the fastest are the ones who are willing to try, make mistakes, laugh about them, and keep going.
  • 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Being from Tijuana, home to one of the busiest land border crossings in the world, I grew up surrounded by the connection between two countries and cultures. I also started traveling when I was twelve years old because of soccer, and those experiences introduced me to different places, people, and cultures from an early age. At eighteen, I continued my education in The United States as an international student.

Since then, I have lived in different cities throughout The United States, Mexico, and Guatemala. Traveling and living in different environments has helped me improve my language skills because it has pushed me to communicate with people from different backgrounds and adapt to new situations.

My studies in International Business also helped me better understand cultural differences and the importance of adapting to different environments. Through these experiences, I have learned that doing research, keeping an open mind, and having a genuine willingness to learn are essential to having meaningful experiences and connecting with people and their cultures.

Travel has taught me that learning a language goes beyond vocabulary and grammar; it is also about understanding people, cultures, and different ways of seeing the world.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in language?

What makes me a Superprof is that I combine my experience, international background, and passion for helping people grow. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to their goals, interests, and level.

My classes are designed to be practical, interactive, and personalized. Whether you want to improve your conversation skills, prepare for travel, work internationally, or simply feel more confident speaking, I want to help you enjoy the process and make real progress.

My goal is not just to teach you a language, I want to help you feel confident enough to actually use it and achieve your goals in life.
