About Juanita

Hello! Hi! Hola! To introduce myself, I hold a BFA in music with a Minor in psychology from York University from which I was granted the University’s Continuing Student Scholarship in 2018. I hold a DEC in Infographic Design from LaSalle College and a College Diploma in Social Science from Dawson College, where was on the Honour Roll for two consecutive years.

My specialties include: languages (French, English and Spanish), music (voice - all levels, piano and guitar), music theory, social sciences for students in Pre-K to Elementary, High School and College.

I have taught French as both a second language and to native speakers. I incorporate oral, reading, grammar and writing skills into creative, personalized lesson plans.

I have worked for seven years as a music teacher at The Canadian Online Academy of Music and The JamLab Music School. I also have years of experience in French Immersion and English tutoring. In addition, I have worked as a music therapist volunteer, at Holland Bloorview Hospital where she assisted kids with special needs, helping them experience the social, cognitive and physiological benefits of music instruction.

I am cognizant and encouraging of individual learning styles. I forge a trusting relationship with my students, building upon their strengths. I believe that education should have no barriers of entry and should be accessible to everyone, including all abilities and backgrounds.

I am fully fluent in French, English and Spanish.

About the lesson

I offer virtual and in-home lessons (depending on your location). The lessons are tailored to your own music taste, learning style and preferred schedule.
My lessons are informed by a holistic approach with the goal of encouraging you to develop an inner sense of musical understanding and improve your technique and performance skills. For singing and instrument lessons, students will have the opportunity to develop their singing and playing with technical exercises, paired with fun music projects to help strengthen their ear as well as their music reading abilities.
