About Christopher

I've been playing piano since I was four when I saw my mum playing on a three-octave electric keyboard at home. I won a Music Scholarship to Winchester College, where I took my Grade 8 in year 9, then my ATCL diploma (97/100) in year 10, and then my LTCL diploma in year 11. I finished Winchester by playing Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto. I'm at Imperial College London studying Engineering, but I have a Music Scholarship with the Royal College of Music too. I also have Grade 8 Violin and Viola, and I sing at home when no-one is around to hear.

About the lesson

A lot of piano teachers focus only on technique; I remember when my first teacher had me playing pieces while balancing a coin on my hand to get the right technique! Others pay no attention to this, letting students come up with their own way of playing instead. I know that the right thing to do is find a balance of improvement and enjoyment, since I know the fastest way to being good at something is by enjoying it. With Distinctions in every ABRSM performance exam and an LTCL diploma in Piano, as well as three years of training as a scholar at the Royal College of Music, I am very qualified to teach piano at any level. My lessons last between one and two hours, although I am flexible.
