About Whitney
As an honors college graduate with a focus in research, my academic writing skills are well-honed. I was an undergraduate researcher for two years and am soon to be published as second author on a research paper. I have also been awarded several competitive scholarships with the help of essays.
I worked as a peer mentor for a time as well. I helped honors freshmen individually with skills to help them succeed in college and in rigorous honors classes.

These lessons are for people of all levels learning to write academic papers! This includes AP and college students writing class essays and those of you writing a thesis. Academic writing isn't easy and it's often brushed over in school, I would be happy to help you get used to the process and language used.
Depending on your needs and stage in the writing process, we would begin with planning and choosing organization methods that help you stay productive. We would then discuss which sections of your paper to begin with and what is typical in academia. Then we would move on to the formatting, word choice, and phrasing that's most appropriate for academic writing (it might be different than you're used to!). If you're farther along in the process I would also be happy to help you edit your paper for succinctness and professionalism.
I want all my students to develop skills and confidence in their writing that can benefit them beyond just the paper(s) I help with!
