About Tyler
I’m an Honors College graduate with a 3.99 GPA in Biological Data Science and am currently applying to dental school. I have extensive experience tutoring students from elementary school through college in subjects including mathematics, statistics, biology, chemistry, and organic chemistry.
Outside of academics, I enjoy watching basketball and snowboarding. I bring the same curiosity and enthusiasm I have for learning into my tutoring, with a focus on understanding concepts rather than memorizing them. I take time to get to know each student, their interests, learning style, and goals so I can make lessons engaging, approachable, and meaningful.

My approach to tutoring starts with getting to know the student—their interests, learning style, goals, and areas of difficulty. I believe students learn best when they understand why something works rather than simply memorizing what to do. I adapt my explanations and examples to each student, often connecting academic concepts to their interests or real-world applications to make learning more meaningful.
A typical lesson begins by identifying what the student already understands and where they are struggling. I then break difficult concepts into manageable pieces, explain the reasoning behind them, and work through examples together. Rather than relying on memorization, I focus on helping students recognize patterns and develop problem-solving skills they can apply to new situations. Students then practice independently while I provide guidance and feedback.
What sets me apart is my emphasis on understanding the person behind the student. I take time to learn what motivates each student and how they learn best, then tailor my teaching accordingly. My goal is not only to help students succeed in a particular class, but to give them the confidence and understanding to approach unfamiliar problems on their own.
I tutor students from elementary through college, including biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, mathematics, and statistics. I am particularly comfortable helping students who want concepts explained from a different perspective or who want to build both their understanding and confidence.
