About Abrial

I currently work as a professional tutor helping students of all ages in with English Language Arts, reading, creative writing, book reviews/revisions, essay writing, and general editing. Students remark that I give their works a "magic touch," "that missing element," and an overall "wow" factor. My older students even remark that they are amazed with how I can turn their essays from something they can barely muddle through into an engaging and amazing paper. My edits are tough and my revisions are in-depth, but I am committed to providing everyone with the push they need to go from good to great.

About the lesson

*PLEASE NOTE- Class is contingent on enrollment. If enough students do not enroll in this class before the start date, you will not be charged anything, and you will be notified promptly.*

Interested in joining a class of your peers to learn what makes a story great? Do you want to understand how to properly develop a story with a wonderful plot, intriguing characters, descriptive settings, tense conflicts, and powerful themes? If so, look no further than this class! The classes will be broken into 3 "semesters." You can expect fun and engaging prompts, first-hand knowledge from someone who has edited and written numerous stories, the chance to share your work for peer feedback, and more!

NOW ENROLLING FOR THE SPRING SEMESTER:
Learn about the 5 basic elements of a story! In the Spring, we will keep a special focus on theme. How do you make a theme meaningful? What makes a theme "good?" How does a theme leave a mark on your reader? Why is theme important? How do I choose one and make it effective? (10 sessions + FREE orientation session, once a week beginning April 15th).

!!!PLEASE ENROLL BY APRIL 3RD. ALL INTERESTED STUDENTS WILL BE NOTIFIED ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT THE CLASS HAS REACHED ITS ENROLLMENT MINIMUM BY APRIL 5TH!!!

*NOTE: Orientation sessions are meant to give you an overview of the program. You will be provided with materials, notes, etc. If you decide that you are not interested in continuing in the classes after the orientation, you may withdraw free of charge and keep any notes and practice materials you get!

ALL SEMESTERS WILL TEACH:
-How to write dialogue.
-How to revise a work for clarity.
-How to revise a work for grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.
-Brief explanations of all 5 essential story elements.
-The opportunity to share works with the class and receive peer reviews.

PEER GROUPS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
-Elementary 1: kindergarten-2nd grade (ages 6-9)
-Elementary 2: 3rd-5th grade (ages 9-11)
-Middle: 6th-8th grade (ages 11-15)
-High: 9th-12th grade (ages 15-19)
-College: Not in school/in university (ages 19+)

**I, also, offer private 1-on-1 revision and writing sessions if you would prefer that to the class setting.**

Abrial is AMAZING!! She is my life's savior!! I was really struggling with college and almost quit until I met Abrial. My college experience shifted dramatically for the better! I can ask stupid questions and she will not make me feel a bit bad and just explain it to me so clearly. I feel like I am a priority to her and she makes herself available in her busy schedule for me. She is so smart! Any subject I bring to session she can help me with, she is literally the one-stop shop! She is respectful of the time and makes use of all the time we have got!! I honestly do not know where I would be today without her! My mental sanity has improved because she breaks things down for me, and I can literally go on and on. ( In a way, I am selfish and I don't want anyone to know about the best kept secret in Abrial but... I know I would not want someone to hold back this kind of help for me..)
