About Andrea

Hi my name is Andrea and I am a BA Honours in Drama graduate.

I am 22 years old and currently loacted in Stellenbosch. I started my theatre training at the age of 11 and continued to choose drama as one of my choice subjects in high school. I studied and did my theatre training at Stellenbosch University across four years. I specialised in physical theatre in my honours year and have some experience in the industry. My aim is to inspire young actors to feel confident in their performace abilities as well as their theoretical knowledge of the craft. In each of my lessons my goal is to make you feel as safe as possible to have fun and explore your charcater, also encoruaging you to take risks and have fun with the craft itself!

About the lesson

My lessons are all structured based off the needs of my students. Technique is first and foremost the most important in all lessons.

Voice Lessons include: projection and articulation training through exercises and performance practice. A list of exercises will be provided in each lesson where we will work through them depending on the goal of the lesson. At the end of the lesson learners will perform a short poem and implement all knowledge given. They will continue to practice the exercises as homework and in the end will perform a poem to see their progress across 6 weeks

Acting Lessons include: A list of poems, prose, dramatic prose and monologue will be provided. Each week we will work through piece of work starting with text analysis, then characterisation and embodiment work and finally performance practice (where all the previous work will be implemented)

Exam Preperation: These lessons are aimed at students who are looking to put in extra work into their performance and theory exams. If theory is the aim, lessons will consist of working and explaining the theory ranging from history to performance and script analysis and teaching study techniques to help remember the content. Performance Exam Prep lessons will consist of working through the chosen pieces the learner is using for their performance exams and working on both strengths and weaknesses of their performance.
