About Annie

Hello! I’m Annie, an illustrator and author passionate about bringing stories to life through mystical, colorful artworks. I’m the author and illustrator of What If I Leave?, a picture book for teens and adults exploring mental health, inner conflict, and healing through illustration.

With over 5 years of experience helping clients visualize their imaginations on screen and paper, I love teaching and sharing my skills with others who are excited to grow creatively. Originally from Vietnam, I earned my Master of Arts in Illustration in the US, where I now live with my husband and two adorable cats. Outside of art, I’m a proud plant parent and often capture my favorite greenery in my digital sketchpad.

About the lesson

Hello artists,

A typical lesson plan of mine covers all the fundamentals of drawing and design tools, providing a comprehensive foundation:

-Digital painting newbies: basic tools in design/illustration software like Photoshop & Procreate.
-Learning, practicing, and reinforcing your fundamental digital painting skills: line, shape, value, color & composition.
-Practicing how to draw with intention.
-Draw from reference then modifying images based on your creativity to tell your story.

Depending on the student's pace, it would take from 3hrs to 6hrs (+student's own practice time) of lessons to cover all the drawing basics. **BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF AND MAKE AS MANY UGLY DRAWINGS (while applying what you've learnt) AS POSSIBLE**. After the basic I will give you prompts to apply your learning to your artwork and walk you through the process. Each session would take 1.5-2hr.

During classes you can ask me any questions regarding being an employed/ freelance artists, what to expect or portfolio review to enroll to art school, etc.
