About Marilena

• Originally from Cyprus and moved to the UK in 2007 and I have now adapted to the British lifestyle.

• I have studied Biochemistry at the University of Surrey and I hold a masters in Human Immunity from the University of Liverpool.

• I have a diploma in Transformational Coaching from the Animas School for Coaching.

• As I was growing up, I spend multiple hours with children (usually my neighbours) and I enjoy getting to see them grow and develop.

• I have experience in mentoring children and supervising university students.

• I have more than 8 years of working experience in the lab and I worked for big and small companies and universities all over the UK. As an example, I have worked at the Universities of Newcastle and Nottingham and worked for companies such as Labcorp that has more than 70,000 employees worldwide.

About the lesson

• I teach science to children from Year 1 to Year 5 (Age 5-10).

• Each lesson lasts about an hour.

• I first take the time to get to know the child in order to understand their needs and learning style before planning any lessons.

• Each lesson is uniquely adapted to each child depending on their situation and personality.

• I make the lessons fun by including visuals and sounds to keep them engaged throughout.

• Other than degrees in Biochemistry and masters in Human Immunity, I have a diploma in Transformational Coaching and also use my coaching skills to stay present and be present with the child during the lesson.
