About Shun
Highly sought-after elite tutor, currently studying physics at Imperial College. I was a King's Scholar and an academic prefect at Eton College, benefitting from some of the best education in the country and leaving with 3 A*s and 2 As at A Level, as well as 11 A*s at GCSE. Before Eton, I attended Ludgrove Preparatory School for five years, and before that spent three years at Hill House International School in London when I first moved to the UK at age 4.
Having attended boarding school for 10 years, I am accustomed to providing academic assistance to those who require it. During my time at Eton, my position as academic prefect provided opportunities to mentor and advise others in their studies. I began tutoring at age 14, coaching those who wished to sit the Eton College King's Scholarship examinations, and I still provide this service as well as giving interview training, examination preparation, and advice for those seeking to apply to public schools and beyond.
I have tutored internationally to those wishing to learn or improve their English language abilities, and I regularly do contract work for the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, drafting and proofreading sensitive English-language documents. As a foreigner myself, I experienced myself the difficulties of learning English at an early age, and my upbringing in the public school system has given me a firm grasp of both the intricacies of casual, conversational English, and the proper etiquette required in more formal situations.
In total, I have more than 800 hours of experience in tutoring over the past six years. My tutees have ranged in age from pre-school to university, with all ability levels represented. My clients are primarily families who highly value integrity and discretion, and I pride myself in guaranteeing a polished, reliable and professional tutoring experience.
There's always more to learning than just answering exam questions. Past papers are important, but if you don't understand why the answer is what it is, then the curve balls might hit you hard. Talking through a problem is just as essential as putting pen to paper!
Eton's reputation for excellent examination results is no accident- I have experienced teaching at its finest, and I bring that experience to bear by assisting you in your studies in a friendly, helpful and efficient manner. Each person has their own pace of learning, and finding that with patience and the right teaching techniques is key to tailoring the tuition and making the best use of the time.

Previous tutees and parents have said:
"Shun has helped my understanding of my maths and physics greatly and has kept the work suitably challenging. He`s easy to get on with and sets the work at a good pace and has kept me well ahead of the syllabus at school." -Matthew (maths, physics)
"I have enjoyed Shun`s lessons very much. I have learnt more than I have from any of my lessons at school, and it has been a lot of fun!" -Johnny (English, maths)
"Shun has been tutoring my daughter in AS level physics for 3 months. He is very organised and his approach is structured and very tailored to my daughter's requirements. Initially he provided an overview and then has been working systematically on specific topic areas while working through past papers. Shun explains concepts very well which which has been very important for my daughter's progress. Where possible, Shun has been able to accommodate our timetable and this has worked well. We are very pleased with his abilities as a tutor." -Requested anonymity (Parent - physics, maths)
"From the outset I found Shun to be very composed and professional. He is extremely perceptive to the child's needs and was receptive and suggests ideas for the best progress.
Our child's needs are more towards mentoring and fine tuning his diagnosis skills, Shun identified this immediately.
Shun is extremely easy and open in his manner of dialogue and communication." - Anita (Parent - maths, Eton entrance)
"Shun was my 13 yrs old son s chemistry tutor. He is amazing. Focus, polite, flexible and available. Shun has a great teaching talent, he clicked with my son (Gabriele is shy - not a chatting box at all!), they find a way to match each other. My son s grades are getting better and better thanks to Shun and his attitude, not just into chemistry only but in ALL his professional and outstanding approach." - Cristiana (Parent - chemistry, physics, maths)
"Shun has spent a couple of months preparing my two sons for their upcoming entrance exams and interviews. Focusing mainly on their English language abilities, he has found their areas of weakness quickly, and he has corrected them efficiently and thoroughly. My sons have both found it a very positive and rewarding experience, and their confidence with the upcoming exams has increased a great deal. Both of my boys brought up unprompted positive comments about Shun's patient and focused approach, that had them engaged and helped them learn new things." - Irina (Parent - English, verbal & non-verbal reasoning, public school entrance)

Shun helped me with my maths studies, creating a very supportive learning environment. He set quite a fast and challenging pace, but was patient with me when I struggled to grasp difficult concepts, and remained charming and friendly throughout. It was a very different learning experience than what I was used to at school, but I found myself improving much quicker than before!
