About Vreny

Vreny Van Elslande is considered one of So Cal’s top guitar and music teachers. His client roster includes Brian Bell (Weezer), Nicolas Cage (son Weston), Leah King whose dad is one of The Commodores, Laru Larrieux (Amel Larrieux), Vanessa Williams (daughter), Kimberly Elise and Teena Marie (daughter), just to name a few.

Born in Ypres (Belgium) in 1971, Vreny started playing guitar when he was 16. He completed a 10-year classical guitar & composition study in 7 years with high honors. He then moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with 2 Degrees in Guitar Performance and Music Production & Engineering.

In 2002, Vreny left Boston for Los Angeles, where he restarted his teaching business. He performed and co-wrote songs with various artists, won songwriting awards, appeared on TV in the US and Belgium, got his songs on the radio, and reached 12th place in the Billboard charts. He's also a best-selling author. He currently has 2 guitar books out. Vreny LOVES vanilla and ube ice cream, Suhr guitars, The Beatles, Queen & ABBA, long walks and hikes, teaching, writing, playing guitar, reading, writing music, playing with his son and rocking out. He lives in Santa Clarita with his wife and son.

About the lesson

I teach from complete beginner guitar students to highly advanced guitarists .

My complete beginner students are always happily surprised when they walk out of their first lesson being able to play about 30 songs along with the record (The Beatles, Bob Dylan, even Steely Dan), even if they never played guitar before.

If you're intermediate or advanced, you too will see much more progress than you ever had before with any other teacher. Some of the reasons for this include: there is a teaching plan with handouts, 27 years teaching experience, 3 Degrees Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music (contemporary guitar, jazz) and conservatory (classical guitar).

Some of my students went from complete beginners to professional musicians with albums out and tours lined up in less than 3 years. It's why I have a star-studded client roster and why CBS News News rates me as one of the top best music and guitar teachers in Los Angeles.

My teaching studio is in Santa Clarita. I teach people in studio, but many of my students have their lessons over Skype/Zoom.
