About Brittany

Growing up with a dyslexic brother and a mom who became a dyslexia specialist to support him and many others, I have known the value of literacy for as long as I can remember. Literacy is liberating, and I am here to help, whether your young one is struggling in school or you're an adult who has struggled with reading. Supporting and empowering learners through the sciences of reading and the Orton-Gillingham approach is a valuable and enriching service I have proudly provided since 2019.

About the lesson

Extensive scientific, evidence-based research clearly outlines practical methods for acquiring language. However, one in five individuals struggle with reading and basic literacy skills, and there is a significant shortage of educators knowledgeable in these studies and methodologies, even within prestigious academic institutions.

In the 1930s, Dr. Samuel T. Orton, a neuropsychiatrist and pathologist, and Anna Gillingham, an educator and psychologist, developed the Orton-Gillingham approach to address the needs of students with dyslexia. Their objective was to create highly effective reading instruction for these students.

As a practitioner of the values Dr. Orton and Anna Gillingham set out to achieve, I will create a customized learning plan to acclimate and address specific needs. Customized lessons can consist of exercises in areas such as phonemic awareness (analyzing sounds within words), phonics instruction, and writing.
