About Rhys

I am an experienced saxophone tutor with more than 12 years of teaching college students. My goal is to make saxophone learning simple, structured, and enjoyable. I focus on clear explanations and consistent progress so students feel confident in their abilities.

My teaching covers tone quality, breath control, finger technique, rhythm practice, and expressive playing. I encourage creativity through improvisation and musical interpretation, helping students develop their own sound. Real-world music examples are used to make lessons practical and relatable.

I use innovative teaching tools such as recording analysis, guided practice plans, and interactive play-along sessions. Music theory, ear training, and sight-reading are also included to support overall musical understanding.

I create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable improving step by step. My aim is to help students enjoy music while becoming confident saxophone players.

About the lesson

My Saxophone teaching style combines structured learning with creativity and mentorship. I believe students grow best when lessons are clear and motivating. I focus on teaching strong fundamentals such as breathing control, embouchure stability, finger coordination, tone development, articulation, rhythm, and reading music.

Creativity is encouraged through sound exploration, improvisation practice, and learning songs that interest the student. I guide students as a mentor, helping them overcome challenges and build confidence in their abilities. I also help students develop good practice habits.

Critical thinking is developed by teaching students how to analyse music, understand rhythm and scales, and correct mistakes through listening. Accountability is maintained through structured practice routines, regular assessments, and progress discussions. Along with Saxophone, I also teach Music Theory, Sight Reading, Rhythm Training, and Ear Development to support musical growth.
