About Ana

I am a dedicated Saxophone tutor with over 15 years of teaching experience, working with students of all levels—from complete beginners to advanced players. Over the course of my teaching journey, I have successfully guided around 150 students, helping them develop strong technical skills, musical confidence, and a genuine love for music.

My tutoring approach is student-centred and highly adaptable. I understand that every learner progresses differently, so I customise lessons based on each student’s goals, learning style, and pace. Whether a student wants to focus on classical saxophone, jazz improvisation, contemporary styles, or exam preparation, I design structured yet flexible lesson plans that ensure steady improvement.

I place strong emphasis on fundamentals such as tone production, breath control, finger technique, posture, and rhythm, while also encouraging musical expression and creativity. I believe learning music should be enjoyable and motivating, so I create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel confident to explore and improve.

In addition to saxophone performance, I also teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and basic improvisation techniques, helping students gain a well-rounded understanding of music. My goal is not only to teach students how to play the saxophone, but also to help them become independent, expressive musicians who enjoy lifelong learning through music.

About the lesson

My saxophone teaching approach is student-centred and based on Adaptation to Learning Styles, Flexibility, Collaboration, and Positivity. I believe that strong fundamentals combined with enjoyment lead to long-term musical growth. Each lesson is designed after understanding the student’s age, experience, learning speed, and musical interests.

I begin with a strong foundation that includes breathing techniques, embouchure development, finger coordination, tone clarity, and proper posture. For beginners, I use simple exercises and familiar melodies to build confidence. For advanced students, I introduce complex scales, modes, articulation patterns, improvisation concepts, and performance techniques. Lessons are flexible, allowing students to progress naturally without pressure.

I encourage collaboration by involving students in goal setting and lesson choices. Students are free to choose pieces they enjoy, which helps maintain motivation. We often work on play-along tracks and ensemble-style exercises to develop timing, listening skills, and musical interaction.

Positivity is at the heart of my methodology. I maintain a supportive environment where students feel comfortable experimenting and making mistakes. Regular feedback and encouragement help students stay consistent and confident. Along with saxophone instruction, I also teach music theory, rhythm training, sight-reading, and basic composition to support overall musical understanding.
