About Sullivan

Hello there!

My name is Sullivan, I am a multi-disciplinary survivor artist & researcher keen on exploring any and every creative avenue.

I believe that artistic exploration is conducive to self-exploration and personal growth, things I wish for everyone. Regardless of the motivator to learn, I am eager to help anyone's journey in understanding both the theory and practice of any creative medium to support the cultivation of a new lens of experience.

Being a French-American raised across France, Japan, Brazil, Belgium and the UK, I have consistently struggled to find my voice in the numerous environments in which I found myself. As inconsistent circumstances continued to affected my inner self, I eventually noticed myself meeting my ever-changing needs by shifting through various art forms including stop-motion, music, jewelry making, sculpting and more; an explorative habit which has supported both my artistic career and my personal well-being.

I believe that there is no such thing as bad art (I often refer to kids' drawings for inspiration); however, there are many bad teachers. I hope to encourage your journey through discovering a new creative language in a way that makes sense to you, without criticism and without shame. Let's make your relationship to your art a good one.

About the lesson

Most anyone you ask has had at least one bad art teacher. I believe this is because of a misplaced ego which I constantly fight to dismantle by teaching and learning with others.

My objective is to help encourage the discovery and exploration of whatever artistic medium resonates with you. Whether it be for academic purposes or independent exploration, I am open to tailor a content-driven curriculum or to freely explore according to the student's preference.

I am a professional multi-disciplinary artist & researcher with a BA in Drama and Theatre Arts (UoB) & a Master's degree in Creative Health (UCL). I have also created and displayed an 11-piece art exhibit on psychological diagnoses for my International Baccalaureate Visual Arts (HL) qualification. I have +5 years of voluntary teaching experiences in Brazil, confidently working in English, French, and Portuguese with children and adults.

I will always strive to meet a student where they are and build a curriculum from there, informed by their needs and interests. The length of these sessions is flexible in design the range of students as well as the intended population. I have worked with both non-English speaking toddlers to grandmothers with dementia and am happy to teach across the age range.
