About Howard

I was born in Calgary Canada and I obtained two bachelor degrees (Chemistry and Geology) in addition to a 2-year diploma in Chemical Technology: Analysis and Treatment to train staff in a laboratory setting. I started my career in research at the Institute of Groundwater Research, University of Waterloo training their students in the use of analytical instrumentation for use in contaminant groundwater research. After my contract finished, I moved to Europe and spent 5 years teaching at international schools in Spain and Austria with students in an EFL/ESL environment in a science/math related course work in chemistry, physics, mathematics and biology as well as information technology. After 5 enjoyable years I returned back to my discipline and became a principal hydrogeologist/water quality specialist for a UK engineering consultancy and managed a variety of environmental and groundwater supply and exploration projects around the world. A significant part of the work was to build capacity and train local staff and counterparts.
Not only do I have technical knowledge but the international Austrian school I taught also catered to young hopefully international students that wanted to get into the semi-professional skiing circuit and I spent the after-school assisting their ex-Olympic ski coach. I have spent time in over 20 countries and excellent understanding of travel, cultures and main tourist sites.
Now I am a freelance consultant and with my past teaching experience I would like to spend time again in this profession to hopefully pass some of my extensive knowledge and expertise. This tutoring site seems the best way to go. About the lesson

My teaching method will be dependent upon the type of student and their ability to learn. I would very much like the student to achieve the maximum benefit from my classes. I have long experience in all aspects of project management both technical and financial. I can provide assistance to other professionals or even recent graduates in increasing their knowledge base. I am particularly interested in providing English as a foreign language (EFL) conversational classes to improve fluency in both a technical and social environment. In addition to providing assistance with presentations, review and edit academic papers in English for grammar and readability.
