About Holly

Dia duit! I’m Holly, a primary teaching student currently completing my Professional Master of Education (Primary) through Irish at the Marino Institute of Education. I hold a BA in Irish and Sociology from Maynooth University and have been educated through Irish my whole life, attending both a Gaelscoil and Irish-medium secondary school.

I have a real love for the Irish language, especially the spoken side of it, and I’m passionate about helping students feel confident using Gaeilge in a natural way. I believe Irish shouldn’t just be about learning off answers — it should be enjoyable, practical and something students feel comfortable speaking.

I achieved a H1 in Leaving Certificate Irish, so I also understand how to break down the course in a clear, manageable way and help students succeed in exams without feeling overwhelmed. I focus on making the curriculum easier to understand through simple explanations, conversation and engaging activities.

I have experience working in classrooms and Gaelscoileanna, including supporting children with additional needs, and I aim to create a relaxed, positive learning environment where every student can succeed.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is friendly, supportive and focused on building confidence in Irish. I tailor each lesson to the student’s level and needs, whether that’s help with homework, exam preparation or improving spoken Irish. I use a mix of active learning, conversation (comhrá), and simple, clear explanations to make the language feel natural and enjoyable rather than overwhelming. Lessons typically last around 60 minutes, but I can be flexible depending on the student. I have a BA in Irish and Sociology from Maynooth University, achieved a H1 in Leaving Certificate Irish, and I am currently completing my Professional Master of Education (Primary) through Irish at the Marino Institute of Education. I have experience working in classrooms and Gaelscoileanna, including supporting children with additional needs. I offer grinds for primary school pupils as well as Junior Cycle and Leaving Cert students.
