About Camillo

I feel quite attached to my native language (in fact, it seems to me that everyone, no matter what language they speak, should feel some kind of connection to it for reasons that go beyond the purely practical purposes of everyday communication), and I believe it’s a great opportunity to use a tool like the Internet to help those who want to (or have a practical need to) engage with a language other than their native one in a personal and direct way; languages are not just techniques used by billions of people to exchange vital information with one another, they also represent different ways of feeling, different worlds, and different ways in which individuals of the same species but belonging to distinct cultures develop, to varying degrees, distinctly human abilities.
Language (Italian, with its history, is an example of this) thus embodies the spirit of a people, its history, and its future. This is why I also believe in the importance of approaching the study of a language like Italian by first mastering its basic technical and formal aspects and then ensuring that it becomes an integral part of one’s own human sensibility.
The lessons are suitable for those who are studying Italian for the first time, as well as for those who already have some ability to express themselves in the language and understand it, but want to greatly improve their skills through conversation, reading, or translation; these, in fact, are the best ways to make one’s comprehension and expression truly natural and personal.

About the lesson

Since the best way to learn a foreign language (even one as grammatically and syntactically complex as Italian) is to train your mind to receive and convey information by expressing yourself in that language, the goal will be to bring students to a level where they are able to carry on entire conversations and attend classes entirely in Italian (until then, classes may be held in English or Italian, of course). Depending on the students’ needs, it will be possible to organize different types of lessons, ranging from simple “school” exercises to improving comprehension skills (both oral and written) through conversation sessions on topics of interest, reading entire books or individual texts, guided translation, and much more. Students will also be able to significantly expand their personal vocabulary (with an initial strong focus on the most common and natural expressions used in daily life), focus on correcting pronunciation, and other aspects of the language they are interested in.
