About Karlita

With over 18 years of experience living in a bilingual community, I bring both academic expertise and cultural understanding to my Spanish instruction. I hold bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Multidisciplinary Studies from UTEP and am currently pursuing a Master’s in Education. I'm also enrolled in an Alternative Certification Program to become a certified Spanish teacher in Texas. As a tutor, I’m committed to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel confident to communicate and grow. About the lesson

My approach as a tutor is rooted in making language meaningful and culturally relevant. I use a communicative and student-centered method that incorporates visuals, real-life contexts, and opportunities for interaction. I also integrate translanguaging strategies when appropriate, to support bilingual learners and honor their linguistic identity. A typical lesson plan includes a warm-up conversation, a short cultural or grammar-based input, guided practice through engaging tasks, and a closing reflection. I adapt each lesson to meet the learner’s goals, whether it's conversational fluency, grammar improvement, or academic writing in Spanish. What sets me apart is my experience as a bilingual professional and my academic training in education and psychology, which helps me create a supportive, inclusive learning environment. I’m committed to helping students feel confident using Spanish in real-world situations. My lessons are ideal for high school or college students, heritage speakers, and adult learners preparing for certification or improving professional Spanish. I customize lessons based on level and need—from beginners to advanced.
