About Joy
I've been an SAT tutor for five years. I've also tutored 110+ students in a variety of other subjects including reading, writing, math, science, essay writing, ACT, and college admissions prep. I have a lot of experience working with high schoolers and will do my best to help you obtain the test score you hope to achieve. It hasn't been very long since I've taken the SAT test myself, so I'm very familiar with the questions and testing strategies. I myself scored in the 99 percentile when I took the SAT in high school and received a perfect score (800/800) in the math section. I’ve helped students increase their score up to 500 points. Of course, scores aren’t guaranteed, but I can guarantee that we’ll be learning a lot!

Our first lesson will be an introductory lesson, where we introduce ourselves, and you will share a little about your personal goals and learning style. Then, during our next few sessions, we'll dive into test-taking strategies and practice problems. I'll typically assign full-length tests or portions of SAT tests for HW to get you accustomed to the testing style. Throughout the process, I'll help you understand the topics in which you feel the least comfortable/confident, and we'll work together to help you feel prepared for your upcoming SAT!
(As you already may know, College Board has released their new online SAT, which has a different format than before. We'll be working with updated workbooks and practice tests to best prepare you for the exam. I've worked with/am working with several students to prepare for this digital SAT and they've made remarkable progress as well.)
My experience working with students has allowed me to understand the learning methods that work best for them. I will do my best to ensure a phenomenal learning experience for you!
