About James

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have worked in different schools in Buckinghamshire, Warwickshire and am currently Head of Business and Economics at a secondary school in Northamptonshire. I have taught the full range of qualifications including GCSE's and A-Levels.

Over the course of my career I have taught students of varying abilities, as well as those from different backgrounds. Differentiation is a key part of teaching and learning and I have much experience teaching EAL, G&T and SEN students using innovative methods.

During my career, I have mentored six student teachers and become a coach to assist colleagues. Building strong relationships with both students and colleagues is something I feel is key to supporting learning through best practice.

I have had considerable success with student motivation, leading to some excellent results, including 100% pass rates in previous years. I also have extensive experience of teaching Oxbridge candidates, many of whom have gone on to secure places at Oxford or Cambridge.

I have a full DBS certificate as I am a current teacher.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

I am currently teaching AQA GCSE Business to Key Stage 4 students, and AQA Business and Economics in Key Stage 5. However, I have experience of teaching all of the main examination boards, including Edexcel and OCR, and can target sessions at particular specifications.

About the lesson

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach Business Studies and Economics at GCSE and A-level (as well as Applied GCSE/A-Level and BTEC).

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I qualified as a Business and Economics teacher in 2007 having done my PGCE at the University of Warwick. I had previously completed my degree in Economics with Politics and Loughborough University, graduating in 2006. Since this time, I completed my Masters in Business and Enterprise Education at the University of Warwick in 2011.

- How much do you charge?

I charge £37 per hour session. If a block of five sessions is purchased, this rate is reduced to £35 per session. If a block of ten sessions is purchased, then the rate is reduced to £32.50 per session.

- Where do you teach?

All of my tutoring sessions take place online. This allows students to feel comfortable learning in their own home, whilst it also reduces the need for travel time. Online tutoring also allows for me to share resources with students directly which might not otherwise be the case.

You will receive instructions on how to access your online session (s) once you make an enquiry.

- When are you available?

I am available at various times, mainly during weekday evenings and at weekends. time slots available can be discussed when you make an enquiry.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach GCSE / iGCSE and BTEC First (Year 9/10/11) as well as A-Level and BTEC National (6th form - Years 12/13). I can deliver sessions focusing on all the major examination boards including AQA, Edexcel and OCR.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

All online tutoring sessions are one hour long. I use specialist online tutoring software when delivering sessions. You will be told how to access your session (s) once you have made an enquiry.
