About Celia

I spent years living in Japan and working as an English teacher. While there I studied Japanese and took the JLPT N5 examination. Once I moved back to the UK, I continued to study Japanese and started teaching it at the beginning of 2021. Since then I have taught dozens of students, both in small group and one to one classes. My students love the fun, friendly atmosphere in our online classes, and always come away having learnt something new! We review material so we don't forget what we've learnt, and I always make sure to include information and stories about Japanese culture in my classes. One of my major passions is reading Japanese literature and I’m always happy to share recommendations. My other hobbies include knitting (and other craft), sketching, yoga, gardening, writing and baking.

About the lesson

- Japanese lessons for kids (aged 9+) and adults. - Follow a bespoke curriculum. - All skillsets covered - reading, writing, vocabulary, speaking and listening. - Learn about Japanese culture from a Japan enthusiast who spent years living there! - Lessons are typically 40 minutes / 1 hour. - Weekly lessons recommended but we can be flexible! Beginners can master reading hiragana and katakana before moving onto studying kanji. Lessons are at the pace of the student, and we can cover anything that you specifically want to know. Whether you're a total beginner or have done some self-study, the lessons will support you on your journey to practical Japanese. Master new words with fun vocabulary sets, and we use original materials created by the teacher as well as a variety of textbooks and resources!

The lessons are always on time, filled with content and never cut short. Communication regarding lessons is very efficient and very consistent. My son has ADHD, and the lessons always keep him engaged throughout! My son loves his lessons, never a chore to come online, I never have to convince him to start, he loves it.
