About Thomas
My name is Thomas and I came from Hong Kong. I have long been fascinated to learn about language and how it works. I would love to share this passion and teach others all I know about language. Japanese was the first foreign language I learned after learning English as a second language at school. I chose Japanese because I love the Japanese culture, and I also love Japanese animations, mangas, J-pop music and games such as Final Fantasy, Castlevania and Tekken series. I hoped through learning their language, I could get to know deeper about all these aspects that I love. And indeed, I did. And more importantly, the more I learned, instead of having other practical purposes in mind, the more I found myself getting interested in the language itself - the grammar structures, the vocabulary, the usages of patterns and so on. That was when I found myself becoming interested in linguistics, and wanted to become a language teacher to share my knowledge about the language.
I hope I have the opportunity to share this passion and knowledge with you.

My lessons can start from the basic pronunciation and writing of Japanese Hiragana and Katakana characters. Then they will introduce basic greetings ("aisatsu"), basic vocabulary and sentence structures. The lessons will go from self-introduction, to basic deictic sentences (such as "this is a book", "that is my bike", etc.), two types of adjectives, verbs and the tenses and forms of them, numerics and quantifiers, to compound and complex sentences such as relative clauses.
