About Imogen
With 20 years of professional experience, I am a dedicated Saxophone tutor who has taught approximately 150 students at different learning levels. I focus on helping students see real progress through practical and well-structured lessons.
My teaching approach is practical, organised, and student-centred. I focus on core skills such as breath control, tone clarity, finger technique, rhythm accuracy, and musical expression. Lessons include exercises, scales, and songs that match the student’s level.
I adjust my teaching style to suit each learner’s pace and understanding. I also give clear practice instructions so students know how to improve between lessons.
What makes my teaching unique is my focus on steady improvement through simple methods. My aim is to help students become confident and disciplined saxophone players.

I follow a teaching methodology for saxophone that emphasises flexibility, collaboration, and positivity. Each student has a unique way of learning, and I design lessons that suit their learning style, pace, and goals, using hands-on practice, demonstration, and listening exercises.
Flexibility allows lessons to evolve according to progress, interests, and motivation, ensuring that students remain engaged and inspired. Collaboration encourages students to actively participate, experiment with improvisation, and share ideas, fostering both creativity and confidence.
I cultivate a positive and supportive learning environment where achievements are recognised and mistakes are embraced as opportunities to grow. Lessons cover saxophone techniques, musical interpretation, improvisation, performance skills, and music theory, providing a comprehensive musical education.
In addition to saxophone, I teach ensemble performance, sight-reading, ear training, and music theory. My goal is to help students become confident, expressive, and versatile musicians.
