About Maxfield

I am a dedicated Biology major enrolled in the Honors Program at St. John's University, driven by a passion for understanding the complexities of life. With a diverse academic background, I have excelled in courses spanning Chemistry, Biology, Statistics, Mathematics, and Psychology at the college level. Beyond academics, I actively engage in campus life through my involvement in student government, where I advocate for student needs and contribute to campus initiatives.

Outside of my academic pursuits, I find fulfillment in giving back to the community through volunteer work. As a volunteer, I am deeply committed to making a positive impact, particularly in the lives of children. I am a proud member of Team for Kids, channeling my love for running into support for children's causes.

With a well-rounded background and a heart for service, I am eager to share my knowledge and passion through tutoring. I believe in fostering an environment where students can thrive academically and personally, and I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to their success.

- Content review
Demonstrate examples of each concept, encouraging student participation and questions.

- Knowledge testing
Distribute addition worksheets covering a range of difficulty levels.

Instruct the student to solve the problems independently within a set time limit (e.g., 15 minutes).

While the student works, circulate to offer guidance, clarification, and support as needed.

After the allotted time, review the answers together, addressing any errors and discussing alternative problem-solving approaches.

- Test-taking methods
Introduce test-taking strategies specifically tailored to addition-related questions:

Prioritize questions based on difficulty and point value.
Read each question carefully, identifying key information and operations required.

Use scratch paper to organize calculations and avoid errors.
If time permits, practice these strategies with sample addition problems.
