About Kayla

For 6 years, I have taught flute to students from different stages of life, from teenagers to older adults. I have guided around 150–200 students and have gained a deep passion for teaching along the way. A highlight of my career was supporting students preparing for their first big performances. Some were nervous at first but later played with confidence and pride. These moments remind me of the power of encouragement. I teach with patience, positivity, and simple instructions. I believe learning should feel welcoming. Whether a student is learning basic notes or practising complex passages, I help them understand each step. I create a comfortable environment where students feel safe to make mistakes and learn. Teaching adult and elderly students has shown me that music truly has no age limit. Their enthusiasm keeps me inspired every day.

About the lesson

My flute teaching method is based on real-life examples, motivation, problem-solving, integrity, and flexibility. I relate musical ideas to simple day-to-day activities to make learning easier. For example, I compare breath support to gentle breathing during rest or use everyday sounds to explain tone. These familiar examples help students understand quickly. Motivation is a key part of my approach. I build confidence by showing students how much they have improved over time. We work with realistic goals so learning feels enjoyable. Problem-solving is something I teach clearly. When a student faces difficulty—whether it is breath, rhythm, or finger movement—we analyse the problem and practise small exercises to fix it. Students learn how to overcome challenges instead of feeling stuck. Integrity is central to my teaching. I give honest feedback in a kind and supportive way. I encourage discipline and steady practice, helping students develop strong habits. Flexibility helps me adjust lessons to match each student’s needs. Whether the student learns visually, by ear, or hands-on, I adapt the method for the best results. I also teach related subjects such as basic theory, reading music, rhythm understanding, and performance preparation. My goal is to make learning smooth, clear, and enjoyable.
