About Ivy
Beginning my formal training at 8 years old remains a quiet memory, though my first public recital at 14 truly shaped my artistic identity. Having earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from The Juilliard School, I have spent 13 years guiding students through the rigors of musical development. My Russian-school lineage informs how I approach foundational elements like posture, hand position, and the essential weight of the arm.
You will find that I emphasize ear training alongside complex memorization techniques, scales, and arpeggios to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the instrument. I find great satisfaction in helping pupils navigate the intricacies of grade exam prep for ABRSM or Trinity, focusing on the nuance of chord voicing and dynamics.
