About Emma
I am a classically trained pianist and music educator. I am currently obtaining a graduate degree from The Juilliard School and am an active performer both as a soloist and chamber musicians. I have teaching experience in South Africa, Thailand, Japan and the USA. Three of my past students have gone on to win major music scholarships for high school study. I am passionate about helping students, find enjoyment and progress in their piano playing. My most recent teaching position was at The Community Music Center of Boston, where I taught 23 students of varying ages. The rest of my experience is in my home country fo South Africa where I predominantly taught younger age groups. I also have experiencing in music tutoring, specifically ear training and music theory.

My approach to teaching has always been shaped by each students' individual needs, style of learning, and level of experience. While I have certain methods and books I tend to gravitate towards, I always assess along the way whether the student is responding well to, and enjoying, the materials and teaching style I am using.

I require a 24/hour cancellation policy unless in the event of serious illness. If you wish to change from in-person lessons to online, I will charge the reduced webcam lesson fee.
