About Hilma

The acoustics of my studio ring with the precise strike of a hammer on string. My BMus in Piano Performance from The Juilliard School forms the bedrock of my technique. I weave pedaling technique and chord voicing into the daily practice of my students.

Sight transposition and music theory often surface as we explore the deeper mechanics of a score. Ear training remains a quiet obsession of mine, refining how we hear the music we play.

Over 13 years, I have guided countless musicians ranging from 6-year-olds to seasoned adults. I find myself most at home blending classical rigor with the fluid curiosity of jazz. It is a distinct joy to share this musical life, which has been my constant companion since I was 6.

About the lesson

Many pianists feel lost when they cannot connect written notes to the physical weight of their fingers. Clarity emerges the moment we address the tension blocking your flow during a difficult passage.

My Juilliard training provides the framework for these corrective steps, ensuring your technique supports your musical ideas. Weekly practice modules assigned with every class offer a 7.0 scale of progression that makes improvement measurable and clear.

These sessions rely on the 13 years I have spent observing how fingers move across the keys. By integrating a jazz feel into classical discipline, we move beyond the page.
