About Kaylie

Hi! My name is Kaylie! I'm 28 years old, a mom of one, and a godmother of five. I have always had a passion and talent for grammar, punctuation, and writing in general. I have also always enjoyed tutoring and helping my son and my godchildren with their school work. My son and godchildren's ages range from first grade to high school senior, so I have experience working with all different age groups. I also have an Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology, an Associate's in Psychology, and am currently attending Ferris State to achieve a Master's in Social Work and then a PhD in Psychology. I am also currently working on writing a young adult novel, which is to be published on Amazon Kindle Publishing upon completion. I know many children struggle with learning things like punctuation and grammar, especially for visual and hands-on learners. I am a visual and hands-on learner as well, and have discovered my own way to successfully learn and understand this subject, and hope to pass on the knowledge to others who may be struggling with this as well. I will always be sure to help your child learn in an enjoyable and compassionate way! I know everyone learns at different speeds, and that's okay! We can take it at their pace, and help them have fun along the way! So, let's get started!

About the lesson

My lessons will begin by assessing where your child is at within the subject, and then determining where they would like to be. Every child learns differently, and at different paces, and that is okay! I have found in my own experience that learning things in a fun and accepting environment is the best way to learn, and that is what I aim to do. I will begin with the basics of punctuation, teaching proper use of commas, exclamation points, periods, semicolons, quotation marks, and apostrophes. I will explain what each is used for, and then helping my student understand when to use them in a sentence. I will also teach the components that make up a complete sentence, as well as how to recognize run-on sentences. I can also assist with proper spelling, capitalizations, and the different types of figurative language and how to recognize them. I can also help your child know the definitions of nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns, adverbs, and proper nouns.
