About Bernadine
When I first started teaching as a 6th grade teacher, I sucked. I made a lot of mistakes and had very little confidence in myself. I graduated from college but knew nothing about teaching.
I have been a Kindergarten teacher for 10 years. Kinders come as blank slates. Kindergarteners must be taught everything from the ground up. . After all this time, it's mostly patience that guides my teaching.
I will do the same for you as your tutor. Learning happens over time. A learner must be patient with oneself.

I enjoy teaching small group, individual, inquiry based and technology based learning. I like to engage a student with subject matter before expecting concrete or abstract responses.
I typically start with a drill of a skill that is pre-based knowledge, e.g., addition or multiplication facts for a warmup and then move into the curriculum. If my student says that they don't get it, I don't move on until they do. I will always check for understanding and then ask the student to demonstrate understanding.
The tools for learning occur on the platform (classroom) but the understanding happens in the check-out line at the hardware or grocery store.
