About Gabriel
My name is Gabriel, and I am a 17-year-old student at The Brooklyn Latin School with a deep, enduring passion for the Latin language. As a student currently immersed in Latin IB Higher Level, I have moved beyond the foundational grammar to tackle the intricacies of advanced translation and literary analysis. My dedication to the language has earned me Summa Cum Laude honors on both the National Latin Exam and the National Medusa Exam. Our coursework demands a rigorous engagement with original texts, and I routinely analyze the epic narrative of Virgil’s Aeneid, the mythological transformations in Ovid’s Metamorphoses, the lyrical beauty of Horace’s Odes, and the intense emotional range of Catullus’ poems, among others. My journey with Latin is one of continuous discovery, and I have come to appreciate its logical structure alongside its profound connection to history, literature, and the modern world.
