About Shreya

I started tutoring almost by accident - a friend of mine was struggling with her grades and helping her turn things around was what got me hooked. That led me to tutor other younger students too, and I've stuck with it because there's nothing quite like watching a student go from dreading essays to actually feeling in control of them.

A bit about my own background: I was born in India, grew up in Sweden, and I'm now studying at LSE in London. Moving between countries and school systems meant English was never just "my language" by default. I had to properly learn and work at it, which is part of why I don't take it for granted when I'm teaching it, and why I'm patient with students who are still building their confidence with it.

What drew me to law in the first place was actually the writing and argument side of it — constructing a case is really just another form of the close reading and persuasive writing I help my students with.

About the lesson

My teaching style is figuring out where a student is actually getting stuck - whether that's structuring an argument, reading a text closely enough to find evidence, or just turning ideas into clear sentences under time pressure. From there I work backwards: we practise the specific skill in isolation first, then rebuild it into full essays or timed responses. I adjust how structured a session is depending on the student — not every lesson looks the same. Some want a tight, exam-technique-driven session with past papers and mark schemes; others do better talking through ideas first and building confidence.

My lessons are an hour, shorter for younger students who lose focus faster, and longer nearer exams when we're working through full papers. I have experience tutoring high school students, helping them build the reading and writing skills that carry through GCSE, A-level, and for those interested, university admissions tests like the LNAT.

I work with students across GCSE and A-level, and I'm happy to adapt for younger or older students depending on what they need. This can be anything from foundational reading and writing skills, to exam-specific technique closer to results, to the kind of argument work relevant to competitive university applications.
