About Jenny

Hello! My name’s Jenny and I’m a student at the Royal College of Music. Having completed grade 8 violin by the end of primary school, I spent a lot of my secondary school years learning how to teach. I really do love teaching and find progression so rewarding to experience- especially when students start to enjoy playing and motivate themselves! I have successfully prepared students for grade exams (practical and theory), as well as auditions for junior conservatoires such as the Royal Academy of Music.

Alongside teaching, I was a member of the National Youth Orchestra for 4 years, co-leading in my final year, where we performed in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and on live radio/TV broadcasts. I was also very lucky to spend one year as a choral scholar in Truro Cathedral, and did a bit of teaching there too! Please don’t hesitate to get in touch- I look forward to meeting you!

About the lesson

Over the last 5 years, I have taught a range of ages/abilities between 4 and 15 years old, starting at complete beginner level. I enjoy shaping lessons around the individual- e.g. arranging someone’s favourite song for violin, or using games to learn and practise technique. I also integrate music theory into practical learning, so that students can build on a strong foundation in future.

I am happy with any length of lesson between 20 minutes to an hour, depending on what works best for you! I am comfortable either preparing students for exams, or teaching outside of exam boards, progressing through pieces with increasing difficulty.

Jenny always made sure he was happy to learn, and went above and beyond to provide him with all the tools and method he needed to progress, including finding music scores he'd love to play.
